The Department of Gerontology and Dementia Studies, University of Malta, would like to raise awareness about the next programmes that are due to open in October 2025, the Higher Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics and the Master of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
These courses provide evidence of knowledge and expertise at different levels required by professionals working in gerontological and geriatric settings, invaluable in improving the prospect of employment in the field of older care. More so, professionals would be in a better position to influence and facilitate policies and procedures for the older person, through evidence-based research, within their places of work as well as the community and serving as an advocate for the rights of older persons.
In addition, people who work and/or research in the field of gerontology and geriatrics experience great personal satisfaction from knowing they are making a true difference to older persons, their significant others, and their carers.
The Higher Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics (HDGG) also provides students with the opportunity to progress to a Bachelor Degree.
